Recycling in Haringey - an overview
Recycling collections from home
Haringey collects recyclables from most homes in the borough on a weekly basis. Residents are provided with a green box and depending on where you live will depend on what materials you can recycle. Most residenst can recycle paper, card, glass bottels and jars, plastic bottles, cans and aluminium foil. In some areas you may be able to recycle clothes and shoes.
If you live in a flat on an estate or in a block Haringey you may be eligible for the green box scheme, alternatively Haringey have been supplying large recycling bins located near to your entrance and they will collect paper, card, glass, cans and plastic bottles.

Kitchen food waste collections
Haringey offer a kitchen food waste collections service to nearly 70,000 properties to They provide residents with two bins, one small bin for the kitchen to collect your food scrpas on a daily basis and one larger bin to keep outside to transfer you scraps for collection.
You can put the following into your bin:
Bread
Cakes and biscuits
Cheese
Coffee grounds
Eggs including the shell
Fish (no bones)
Fruit
Meat (no bones)
Noodles
Pasta
Rice
Tea bags
Vegetables
Approved compostable liners only
Please DO NOT put these items in your bin:
Animal bedding
Bones
Cardboard
Cooking oil
Foil
Hair
Milk
Packaging
Paper
Pet food
Pet litter
Plastic bags
Plastic trays
Tins

Green garden waste collections
Haringey offer a green garden waste collection service to 65,000 properties in the borough. Residents are provided with a white reusable bag, which is collected on the same day at your other recycling.
You can put the following into your sack:
Grass cuttings
Hedge clippings
Leaves
Prunings
Small branches
Flowers
Please DO NOT put these items in your sack:
Japanese Knotweed
Large branches
Turf
Soil or sand
Food
Any other rubbish

Local street recycling banks

Special collections
If you have a piece of furniture, a fridge, cooker or similar item which is still in good condition check out the Reuse page to see if someone else can give it a home. Alternatively the Council can collect it for you. They will collect a certain number of items for free and for other items there is a charge. For more information on charges or to book a collection:
