Recycling in Hammersmith & Fulham - an overview

Recycling collections from home

Hammersmith and Fulham collects recycleables from your home on a weekly basis in an orange smart sack on the same day as your refuse collection. You can recycle paper, card, glass, cans, plastic bottles and food and drink cartons.

If you live in a flat on an estate or a mansion block you may still be able to recycle as wherever possible smart banks have been provided for residents use only. These will be located as near to the normal rubbish bins as possible.

Kitchen food waste

Hammersmith and Fulham do not currently provide a kitchen food waste colelction sevice to its residents. To find out how you can reduce your food waste visit: Love food hate waste.

Green garden waste collections

Hammersmith & Fulham no longer offer a green garden waste collections service. However they are promoting home composting and have thousands of compost bins for a small charge or for free to encourage residents to take up the composting habit. You can still have larger green waste such as tree prunings, collected through the special collection service for a small charge. Local street recycling banks

Hammersmith also have a number of street recycling banks for cans, glass, paper, tetra packs and some also take textiles. To find out where you nearest street recycling bank is and what you can recycle there please visit: Hammersmith & Fulham street recycling banks

Special collections

If you have a piece of furniture, a fridge, cooker or similar item which is still in good condition check out the Reuse page to see if someone else can give it a home. Alternatively the Council can collect it for you. There is a charge for collecting these items. For more information on charges or to book a collection:

Reuse and Recycling Centre

There are no Reuse and Recycling Centres in Hammersmith & Fulham, however residents can use Western Riverside Waste Authority's sites located in Wandsworth.
