Recycling in Camden - an overview
Recycling collections from home
Camden provide a weekly recycling collection from home to over 65,000 properties. If you live in a house or a flat with less than six flats to one front door they will collect paper and card in a blue bag, glass, cans, and plastics. Plastic includes any bottles, food trays, yoghurt pots, margarine tubs, plastic bags and juice/soup cartons. This is collected in either a green box or bag. They also provide a green garden waste collection and a kitchen food waste collection service.
All your recycling will be collected on the same day. Please make sure it is outside your property before 7am on your collection day.
If you live in a multi-occupancy buildings (with more than six homes) Camden may have already set up near-door recycling banks for you to use. If you do not have these services yet they will be coming to you in the near future.

Kitchen food waste collections
Owing to the success of Camden food waste collection trials, they have recently expanded their food waste collection service. This will soon be offered to all Camden residents, whether you live in a flat, house, a purpose-built block or on an estate.
Residents in low rise properties will be provided with a kitchen caddy and an outdoor caddy for the collection of your food waste. This will be collected once a week on the same day as your other recycling. Residents in multi-occupancy buildings and in blocks of more than 6 flats will be provided with communal collection bins for your kitchen food waste. All of which will be collected for composting.

Green garden waste collections
A brand new garden waste recycling service is on its way to help Camden residents recycle even more. For residents with gardens Camden now provide three white reusable sacks for all compostable green garden waste which is collected for composting once a week on the same day as your other recycling.
You can put the following into your sack:
grass cuttings
leaves
bark
dead flowers
garden prunings or twigs
Please DO NOT put these items in your sack:
-
soil
plant pots
stones
large tree cuttings
food scraps
any other rubbish

Local street recycling banks
Camden has a number of street recycling banks for cans, glass, paper and plastics. Some also take shoes, textiles and household batteries. To find out where your nearest street recycling bank is and what you can recycle there please visit: Camden street recycling banks.
Large item collection/white goods collection service
If you have a large item, such as a sofa, bed, wardrobe or chair which is still in good condition and can be re-used by someone else then check out Camden’s furniture collection for reuse page to see if someone else can give it a home and you can have it collected free of charge. If it cannot be re-used and you need it collected for disposal the Council can still collect it for you through its large household item collections for disposal. There is a charge for collecting these items.
If you have a fridge, cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer etc. that needs recycling then Camden will collect it free of charge and recycle it for you. For more information on charges or how to book a collection:
